This is the first study - I’ve made it today and it has several inspirations and reasons. Here we go:
Every good guide one finds will have, at least, one good map with an overall view of the place it refers to. There won’t be any “proper” maps like those in the magazine (at least that what’s becoming so far - I’ve been noticing the process is a lot more “uncontrollable” than I thought in the beginning), but still is a guide for exploration, and the reference to mapping is required under these circumstances.
When working with the art directors Alceu Nunes and Milena Galli at the new graphic project for Capricho Magazine we came across some studies of a more flexible and unconventional grid, which could be visible and would guide the readers through the articles. This grid would allow a more intuitive form of reading - creating the possibility of exploring hyperlinks, connections among several articles and a more ludic summary.
To use the page as a map seems the perfect solution for a magazine about exploration. But this is not a territorial exploration and this grid might succumb and need to be adapted to more imaginary mapping possibilities.
That’s what I will be testing in the next days. Keep visiting.
